DEFRA Add to Confusion Over Tallow Burning

DEFRA Directive Will Increase Costs And Carbon
Roger Williams, Welsh Liberal Democrat MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, has slammed the Government for forcing through a new directive which will handicap Welsh farmers environmentally and hurt the Welsh environment.

TESCO PROFITS PER DAY : £5.5m WELSH FARMER'S WAGE PER YEAR: £14,000
Following today’s announcement of record Tesco profits of £2.25 billion for the past year, Roger Williams, Liberal Democrat MP for Brecon and Radnorshire has warned that the extreme power of supermarkets is destroying Welsh farming.

WELSH CRICKET TO GET MASSIVE BOOST
Yesterday at parliamentary questions on Culture, Media and Sport; Roger Williams MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, invited the Minister for Sport, Richard Caborn, to congratulate Glamorgan Cricket Club on being selected to host an Ashes test match in 2009. This was in response to the whingeing of certain North East MPs who bemoaned the influence of the Welsh Assembly, and overlooked the contribution of Welsh players such as Simon Jones and Geraint Jones to the Ashes-winning ‘England’ squad of last year. Roger also asked the Minister to join him in urging the Welsh Assembly to ensure that there are the facilities, resources and coaches available to the young people of Wales in time for 2009.

WELFARE STANDARDS MUST BE MAINTAINED IN THE PIG MEAT INDUSTRY
In response to growing concerns over animal welfare standards in the production of pig meat products imported into the UK, Roger Williams MP, Liberal Democrat Rural Affairs Spokesperson has said that UK animal welfare standards must be upheld.

RURAL AREAS MUST HAVE ACCESS TO ‘GENUINE’ BROADBAND
In a recent debate on rural broadband Roger Williams MP, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson on Rural Affairs, questioned the Minister how broadband was defined. He was informed that OFCOM’s definition was 128kbps (Kila bits per second), substantially below the 512kbps standard for ADSL.
