“CATTLE AUCTIONEERS MUST BE GIVEN CLEAR GUIDANCE ON TB”
Liberal Democrat MP for Brecon and Radnorshire Roger Williams yesterday questioned the Secretary of State for Wales on the issue of bovine tuberculosis. Mr Williams has been contacted by the auctioneers running Brecon Store Cattle Market, where up to 1000 cattle will be sold every month during the spring, because neither the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs or the Welsh Assembly have issued guidance to livestock markets about how they should operate in relation to the pre-movement testing for tuberculosis in cattle. Liberal Democrat Research into the battle to save the titles of the amalgamated Royal Welch Fusiliers and the Royal Regiment of Wales has revealed that, contrary to MOD statements, multiple objections about the proposed renaming had in fact been lodged with senior MOD officials and with the Secretary of State for Defence, before his announcement on 16 December 2004.

“SAFETY BEFORE SECRECY: MOD MUST COME CLEAN ON SPY-PLANES PLAN”
Having secured a £20m grant as part of a joint venture with the Department for Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Defence is planning to develop military technology into unmanned spy-planes. The new drones are to be tested in Wales, along a corridor from Aberporth to the Eppynt military training zone. The fly-path avoids most densely populated areas in mid-Wales but many smaller villages such as Tricastle and Sennybridge remain on the route, raising concerns as to the safety of local habitants.
