WELSH LIB DEMS DEMAND EQUAL ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE
At Welsh Questions today, Welsh Lib Dem Spokesperson Roger Williams urged the new Welsh Secretary Paul Murphy to ensure that patients in Wales get access to the best quality healthcare, whether that comes from hospitals in England or Wales.

GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOW ACT ON EFRA REPORT INTO BADGER AND CATTLE TB - WILLIAMS
Commenting today in advance of the Environment Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Select Committee report on badger culling, entitled; “Badgers and cattle TB: the final report of the Independent Scientific Group on Cattle TB”, Roger Williams MP, Liberal Democrat Food and Rural Affairs Spokesperson and EFRA Committee member, has welcomed the reports findings.

“Support the Save our Post Offices Campaign as announcement draws closer” - Williams
Roger Williams MP for Brecon and Radnorshire has today asked for local residents to further support the Save our Post Offices campaign. Mr Williams said “We have had tremendous support for this campaign and so far we have received in excess of two thousand Save our Post Office post cards which I will be delivering to the Prime Minister in the next few weeks. I will also shortly be meeting with the Royal Mail to discuss the imminent announcement on the future of post offices in Brecon and Radnorshire.”

MORE MONEY NEEDED FOR FOOT AND MOUTH COMPENSATION AND WELSH FARMERS - WILLIAMS
Commenting on the Welsh Assembly Government announcement of an £8.8m compensation package for Welsh Sheep Farmers, Roger Williams MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Wales and Liberal Democrat Food and Rural Affairs Spokesperson, has said that more needs to be done for sheep farmers.

A SUPERMARKET OMBUDSMAN IS LONG OVERDUE - WILLIAMS
In the week of the NFU Centenary Conference the Liberal Democrats have been focussing on unfair competition. On Tuesday Nick Clegg became the first Liberal Democrat Leader to address the NFU Conference and today Roger Williams, Liberal Democrat Food and Rural Affairs Spokesperson challenged the Prime Minister over the introduction of a supermarket regulator.

Following his question to the Prime Minister, in which he questioned what action the Government would take on the provisional findings of the Competition Commission report into the Grocery Trade, Mr Williams said:

Efforts of Land Girls Finally Recognised - Williams
During World War II there was a shortage of labour working the land both on farms and in forests. To fill this void and help supply the Home Front with the food and timber it needed women were recruited into the Women’s Land Army (WLA) and the Women’s Timber Corps (WTC). Members of both groups have campaigned for decades for them to be officially recognised for the vital role they played in the Second World War.

“The closure of Powys Welfare Right’s Forum effects the most vulnerable in society” Williams
Roger Williams, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, today called for Powys County Council to urgently consider allocating more funding to the Powys Welfare Right’s Forum. Due to shortages in funding the Forum recently stopped taking on new cases. The service was set up ten years ago to maximise the benefit income of Social Care and Children’s Services users and carers; helping the most vulnerable people in society.
