Further blow for local communities as New Radnor Post Office faces temporary closure - Williams12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 24th Jul 2008
Speaking today on the news that New Radnor Post Office will be temporarily closed Roger Williams, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire said: "This is another blow for our local communities. We have already seen closures of local Post Offices in this area following the consultation exercise carried out by Post Office Ltd and now the Post Office in New Radnor is facing temporary closure following the retirement of the sub-postmaster. "The sub-postmaster gave three months notice to Post Office Ltd of his retirement, ample time for Post Office to prepare for an alternative service, yet they have failed to do this. "I have also received complaints from residents that their concerns have not been taken seriously by Post Office Ltd and this is extremely disappointing. "I have written to Post Office Ltd to ask that they take immediate action on providing a new service of New Radnor. "New Radnor was not a part of the recent closure discussions so should by rights have access to a Post Office service."
