ROGER WILLIAMS SUBMITS GAZA PETITION TO HOUSE OF COMMONS
5.27.03pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 5th Jun 2009
Roger Williams, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, yesterday submitted a petition to the House of Commons on behalf of the Brecknock Peace and Justice Group.
The petition focussed on the recent Gaza conflict.
Mr Williams said:
"The petition called for both Israel and the Palestinians to work towards a lasting peace settlement
"The loss of life in this conflict was tragic and it is essential that the UK Government, along with the EU and the USA, adopt a strong position in order to resolve this issue as a matter of urgency.
"I hope that the Foreign Secretary will take note of this petition and that we will see positive steps being taken by all those involved in the conflict in order to bring about an end to the senseless loss of life that has occurred, not just earlier this year but for many decades.
"I congratulate the Brecknock Peace and Justice Group for the work they have done on this issue."
