ROGER WILLIAMS MP WELCOMES NEWS THAT EFRA WILL LOOK INTO THE COLLAPSE OF DAIRY FARMERS OF BRITAIN
9.53.52am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 27th Jul 2009
Roger Williams, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire and Liberal Democrat Shadow Food and Rural Affairs spokesperson, has welcomed news that the Environment Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Select Committee will launch an inquiry into the collapse of Dairy Farmers of Britain.
Commenting today, Mr Williams said:
"The announcement that the EFRA Committee will look into the collapse of Dairy Farmers of Britain is welcome news.
"A number of my constituents have been severely affected by the collapse and it is important that this matter is looked into and lessons are learnt to prevent similar problems arising in future.
"The impact of this has been devastating for the Dairy sector and a large number of farms will simply not be able to continue as a result.
"The deadline for submitting evidence to the inquiry is 31st August 2009 and I would urge all those who have been affected by the collapse of Dairy Farmers of Britain to do so as soon as possible so that it can be considered as part of the inquiry."
