WILLIAMS CALLS FOR SWIFT JUSTICE IN DANIEL MORGAN MURDER CASE

Roger Williams, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire and shadow Secretary of State for Wales, has called for swift action in the trial of the alleged murderers of Daniel Morgan.

Daniel Morgan was found dead outside a London pub nearly 23 years ago. His mother and brother have been campaigning tirelessly to bring his killers to justice.

Roger Williams said:

"Alistair Morgan and Isobel Hulsman have been campaigning for nearly 23 years to see that justice is done and that the people responsible for this shocking crime are brought to justice.

"A trial had been scheduled for September 2009, but this has now been postponed until September 2010.

"Daniel Morgan's mother is now in her 80's and it is terrible that, having got so close to seeing a trial taking place, she now has to wait another year.

"I raised this issue with the Secretary of State for Wales in the St David's Day debate in Parliament last week and I hope that he will take my comments on board to apply the necessary pressure in order to ensure that this trial takes place at the earliest possible opportunity and is not subject to any further delays."

Roger Williams will be writing to Jack Straw MP, Justice Secretary, to highlight the delay in the trial to request that it be expedited.
